Q1: When I open the map page I don't see anything. What do I need to run
the govME Map?
A: To view the govME Map, you must have:

Windows XP or better
-
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x or Later

Mouse or compatible pointing device
Q2: I am trying to view items in govME map but all I see is .
What should I do?
A: You are seeing the red X because the automated install failed. Use the
following instructions to manually install the viewer:

Go to the
download center
-
Click on the Autodesk MapGuide button
-
Click the "Run" button in the "File Download - Security Warning" dialog box
-
Allow the software to download
-
Click the "Run" button in the "Internet Explorer - Security Warning" dialog box
-
Follow the onscreen instructions
-
After install is completed close all unnecessary IE windows
-
Reopen the govME Map window at http://govME.org/Map
-
Before you click on anything you should see a map of the City of Tacoma.
This may take up to 10 seconds to display.

If map still does not display after 10 seconds, click the refresh button.

Q3: I have Internet Explorer installed on my PC. I tried to manually
install the MapGuide Viewer but it failed. What can I do?
A: Check your Internet Explorer settings.

Open the Internet Explorer browser

Open the "Tools" menu
-
Click on the menu item titled "Internet Options…"
-
Click the "Security" tab
-
Click on the globe at the far left titled "Internet"
-
Click the "Custom Level…" button close to the bottom of the dialog box
-
This should open the "Security Settings" dialog box
-
Change the following settings under the heading "ActiveX controls and
plug-ins":

Set "Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls" to Enable
-
Set "Binary and script behaviors" to Enable
-
Set "Download signed ActiveX controls" to Prompt
-
Set "Download unsigned ActiveX controls" to Prompt
-
Set "Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to Prompt
-
Set "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" to Enable
-
Set "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" to Enable
-
Accept changes and close all dialog boxes.

Install MapGuide Viewer using the instructions in Q1.
Q4: I am running Internet Explorer but the automated install failed. What
can I do?
A: If the automated install failed, try installing the MapGuide viewer
manually using the instructions in Q2. If the map still does
not work, try changing your security settings as noted in Q3 and
make sure you also enable "Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run
without prompt."
Q5: When I try to manually install MapGuide, I get a message that I must
un-install a previous version first. How do I do that?
A: If prompted to uninstall Autodesk MapGuide ActiveX Control Viewer,
follow these steps:

Open Control Panel
-
Select Add or Remove Programs
-
Scroll down the list and select Autodesk MapGuide® Viewer ActiveX Control.

Click Change/Remove
-
Follow the prompts to uninstall the viewer
